Gwangju Technopark: its complexes, tenancy and support lines
광주테크노파크 소개
Gwangju Technopark's own history page records designation as a technopark operator in December 1997, corporate establishment approval from the Ministry of Industry and Resources in December 1998, and an opening in February 1999 as Gwangju-Jeollanam-do Technopark, renamed Gwangju Technopark in March 2004. Its pages list named complexes and support centres; none state a foreign-founder eligibility rule.

Gwangju is one of the eleven region-plus-technopark searches already reaching page one. None finds a dedicated answer on this site. Gwangju Technopark's own history and facility pages supply what a founder actually needs before contacting it.
A 1997-1999 foundation, renamed in 2004
Gwangju Technopark's own history page records a December 1997 designation as a technopark operator. Corporate establishment approval followed, from the Ministry of Industry and Resources, in December 1998. The organisation opened in February 1999 under the name Gwangju-Jeollanam-do Technopark.
The organisation changed its corporate name to Gwangju Technopark in March 2004. Its history page also records an April 2002 designation as an advanced venture enterprise promotion district, ahead of that rename.
Multiple complexes, not one building
Gwangju Technopark's own site lists Complex 1, Complex 2 and I-PLEX Gwangju among its facilities. It also lists an Energy Industry Convergence Complex, a Battery Module Centre and an Age-Friendly Centre.
Named startup spaces include Green Startup Town Tech-Plus Stage and Inno-Plus Stage. Its history page records I-PLEX Gwangju opening in September 2016, alongside a youth startup-support centre.
The organisation's own recent history also records a September 2025 selection for a smart green industrial complex project. The project is valued at 28.5 billion won. A battery module and pack system test evaluation centre is among its more recent additions.

Support lines and tenancy
Gwangju Technopark's own site describes support across startup incubation and growth-stage development. It also lists marketing, smart-factory and job-creation programmes. It lists investment attraction, export support, "Technology Doctor" consulting, and KOLAS testing and certification.
Tenancy runs through its own "입주안내" (occupancy guidance) section. Regular vacancy announcements cover specific complexes. A founder applies to a named vacancy round, not to the technopark as a single entity.
A founder evaluating Gwangju should treat its 2025 project selection and battery-sector centres as signs of an active organisation. They are not a guarantee that any one programme fits a specific company.
